Vasse Felix Filius Chardonnay 2024
- Australia
- Chardonnay
- ABV 12.5
- Zalto Denk'Art Burgundy Glass
A contemporary house style with versatile drinkability. It is a vibrant and modern Chardonnay with pure fruit, wild complexities and mouth-watering natural acidity. An earlier drinking style with alluring savoury nuances from Vasse Felix’s quality-led, minimal intervention winemaking approach.
Stuart McCloskey, 20 March 2026 “The perfume is delicate, unfolding with notes of citrus blossom, lemon verbena, peach, pineapple, and toasty oak. With more aeration, secondary layers of fresh ginger, ginger biscuits, vanilla, white pepper, and a long vein of salinity emerge. Given extended aeration, hints of chamomile and sea salt pronounce themselves. It is a promising showing for such a modestly priced wine. The palate: Crystalline purity, exquisite balance, and a wine clearly crafted with caring hands. Although fine-boned, the additional time in bottle has fleshed out the palate, which is a positive and lends an unexpected layer of luxury. The flavours are bright and juicy, centred on orchard fruits and citrus, with a touch of warming ginger on the finish. Lovely length. What a lovely wine and without question, it exceeded my expectations. The key to getting the best from this wine is not to serve it straight from the fridge - around 11–13°C is ideal. It also benefits from a large bowled glass, such as a Zalto Burgundy or similar, which really elevates the wine.”
Winemaker Notes: Each parcel was handled with respect for the unique qualities of our vineyard sites, undergoing natural fermentation with varying solids levels, and tailored fine French oak and bâtonnage programs. Three large format foudres were included, preserving vibrant fruit character, enabling unique development, and allowing for low sulphur use. After 7.5 months maturation in oak, the parcels were combined to create a typical Vasse Felix Chardonnay from Margaret River; vibrant, elegant and complex. This vintage exhibits lower acidity, offering a fresh, super pleasant and well-preserved expression.
Vasse Felix “A harmonious bouquet unfolds with fragrant citrus blossom, white nectarine, preserved lemon, jasmine, pineapple, lightly roasted cashew nut, wheatgerm and a subtle flinty undertone. Palate: Incredibly fresh and vibrant, with lifted saline mineral tones and balanced acidity creating a mouthwatering sensation. The palate is long, fine, and elegant, filling the entire mouth while seamlessly flowing to a light, dry finish with a delicate chalky texture.”
