Stuart McCloskey - "This was one of those samples that stopped us in our tracks. We loved it. The sample bottle was guzzled by all. Forget any thoughts of a simple, grassy Sauvignon Blanc. Mappinga is altogether more serious – barrel fermented, wonderfully textured and packed with character. There is a lovely smoky, flinty quality running through the wine, but it is the combination of richness and freshness that really impressed us. Citrus, lemon curd and a touch of something more exotic sit alongside savoury, herbal notes, while the oak brings texture and shape rather than dominating the wine. It feels broad and silky through the middle, yet there is plenty of acidity and mineral bite keeping everything fresh and moving. The finish is long, savoury and beautifully composed. A seriously good Fumé Blanc and, for us, one of the surprises in our latest round of Australian samples."

Winemakers Notes "A complex and alluring wine with steely, gunflint and kaffir lime aromatics. The palate is full-bodied and layered, showing lemon curd, lychee and fresh citrus fruit, balanced by savoury notes of green capsicum and parsley. A silky texture carries the wine through a long, structured finish, with both freshness and depth."
