Stuart McCloskey, tasted 20 July 2026 “This is the Chardonnay that will win hearts from the very first bottle. Where Owen's Chardonnay asks for a touch more patience, Mappinga is wonderfully expressive today. The fruit is immediately generous, the texture supple and inviting, yet beneath that youthful charm lies a spine of minerality and acidity that promises a fascinating evolution over the coming years. I found myself repeatedly returning to the glass. Aromatically, it is open and engaging, offering waves of white peach, nectarine, grapefruit and subtle grilled hazelnut. The palate possesses a lovely generosity, but never drifts into richness for richness' sake. Instead, everything is held in place by a saline freshness and beautifully judged oak. This is the bottle I would happily open over the next two or three years without a second thought. However, don't mistake accessibility for simplicity. The concentration, balance and acid profile suggest this wine has every chance of rewarding six to eight years in a cool cellar, gradually exchanging its vibrant stone fruit character for greater complexity, texture and nuance. It is, in many respects, the perfect bridge between immediate pleasure and genuine age worthiness.”

- In Bond: Exclude UK Duty and VAT, and can either be delivered to a UK bonded warehouse in the UK, or released for international delivery.
- Duty Paid: UK Duty @ £26.78 per 9 litres and VAT @ 20% has been paid.
Wines are only available in whole, unmixed cases unless otherwise stated.
