Marcus Ellis, Haliday.com “From 1948-planted estate vines, indigenous ferment, matured in French oak (35% new). This has classic stylings, richly supple fruit, dusty, earthy scents and dark spices, but the house refinement is also on show. It’s like an old snapshot, artfully colourised. Black and blue fruits, Christmas spices, crème de mûre, coffee crema and dark cocoa. There’s richness and a supple flex to the palate, oak suitably matched, tannins cleansingly savoury. It’s a very smart release.”

2021 was one of the best vintages we have ever had in McLaren Vale. After two years of very low crops and drought, 2021 was perfect in almost every way - apart from a global pandemic that is! Pretty much perfect ripening conditions and one that we will remember for years to come.
Bouquet: Mulberry, fruit cake spices, baked cherry compote, riverstone, anise, mocha and blackberry.
Palate: Cacao nibs, spice and blackberry cherry fruits, leading to a core of beautiful plummy fruits, rounded out with a river stone mineral note. So much power, yet so much finesse with incredibly fine tannins and fantastic length. Super fresh and supple drinking now, but the 2021 HJ will certainly reward cellaring for the very patient (and self-disciplined!)

- In Bond: Exclude UK Duty and VAT, and can either be delivered to a UK bonded warehouse in the UK, or released for international delivery.
- Duty Paid: UK Duty @ £26.78 per 9 litres and VAT @ 20% has been paid.
