It defies the varieties inherent overtness and straps in serious minerality, a compact and yet concentrated flavour profile, scintillating acidity. appropriate, substantial savouriness but only as a harmonious counter to subdued but refreshing, just-ripe tropical fruits and laid back citrusy freshness. It clatters across the palate with its brine, it tightens on gentle trim of chalky pucker, it finishes with more brine and a good dose of pink grapefruit sizzle. Utter charm coupled to proper complexity. A serious contender for one of the greats of the variety in this wide, brown land. I’m gunna go to that place…"

The 2025 L.A.S. Vino SBDB sits in exceptional company. Mike awarded the 2025 L.A.S. Vino SBDB just a point behind his scores for the 2024 Lamella and Schubert Theorem, and a few points ahead of both the 2024 Relic and The Standish. As ever, scores are subjective, but they provide an interesting point of reference.

When we first tasted this wine many months ago, we felt it was one of the finest Australian Sauvignon Blancs we'd encountered. Mike's review simply reinforces that view.
If you're someone who instinctively avoids Sauvignon Blanc, we'd urge you to put those preconceptions aside. This is not a caricature of the variety. The style is altogether more restrained, mineral and sophisticated, with remarkable precision and energy – the texture envelopes the palate. As we said when we introduced the extraordinary 2024 Schubert Theorem and Andelmonde (ahead of the global press), truly great wines have a habit of announcing themselves long before the wider chorus joins in.

Quite simply, this is magnificent.
