Stuart McCloskey, 23 March 2026 “A wine creeping gracefully into another stage of its life. Wonderful, heady secondary aromatics unfurl with barely any decanting required. Crème de mûre, cherry pie, mocha, liquorice, and new saddle leather. The florals soar - exquisite in their lift joined by mushroom broth, woodland notes, old-school pen ink, tobacco, and a blood-orange flourish on the finish. There is even a touch of what I can only call “Pinosity” - though I hesitate to say it, for fear of putting Shiraz lovers off their buying. With more air, bacon fat emerges too. It is a lovely, captivating nose. The palate is svelte, packed with freshness (a nod to effervescence lift of blood orange). The flavours glide and linger for minutes. The tannins are silky. This is outright superb - the sort of wine that, poured blind in an international competition, would come out the winner. It is bursting at the seams with perfume, flavour, and quality. I love the way salted liquorice mingles with ripe blue and black berries, with just a lick of saddle leather adding further intrigue. This has come on leaps and bounds. As we said from the outset, Lange Estate wines punch far above their weight class… Superb. Drink now to 2030 and beyond.”

95 Points - Wine Pilot “Margaret River Shiraz is too often overlooked thanks to its illustrious compadre, Cab Sauv. A shame as there are some crackers from this region. This is dark magenta in colour. The aromas and flavours are very much dominated by gorgeous cherry notes. Fresh cherries, black cherries, cassis, cherry meringue. Black fruits and licorice round out a delicious palate. Fine tannins here and a lingering finish. This is generous and yet well focused and has a decade plus ahead of it. Love it.”

Lange Estate

“Lange Estate is a family-owned and operated farming business in the Frankland River wine region. The Lange family has been cultivating and farming in rural Western Australia for five generations. The vineyard was established in 1997 and, more recently, the family has embarked on creating a wine label which consists of three ranges showcasing the best of the estates fruit. The results are really promising, and I expect some exciting things in the future.” Ray Jordan | 2020 Wine Guide

The Lange family have been cultivating and farming in rural Western Australia for five generations.
