House of Cards Solera Fortified Shiraz 2011

Stuart McCloskey "Well done, indeed. What a lovely wine and one that explodes with a long list of heady aromatics. Where to begin? Dark chocolate, booze soaked plum, prune and raisins, toffee, raspberry liquor, tea, creamy nuts, salted nuts, mocha, cinnamon, burnt orange peel, cinder toffee, stout and a handful of sea salt – I could be here all bloody day! The flavour profile is equally lengthy and equally delicious. Lovely viscosity, bags of sweetness juxtaposed with burnt orange peel, spice and a youthful embrace of vigour. Figs, macerated Christmas fruits, dried apricots, burnt toffee and dark chocolate. As smooth as silk and I do love the salty seasoning. Long, long finish – clean, too… I served this slightly chilled and spent time with it (through to room temperature). Ridiculous value given the tiny amount produced and the kid-glove approach. Served using Zalto Universal stemware. Drink now to 2050+."
