Stuart McCloskey "Here is one that could very easily get lost amongst all the noise surrounding House of Cards – don't let it. Pinot Noir is not the variety most of us immediately associate with this corner of Western Australia, which makes this all the more interesting. The fruit comes from Pemberton, rather than House of Cards' Margaret River vineyard, and the style is beautifully different from the richer wines we have been discussing.
This is Pinot built around freshness, perfume and finesse rather than weight. Bright red fruits lead the charge - wild strawberry and raspberry - with a savoury edge, fine tannins and lovely acidity carrying everything through. There is a delicacy and energy here which makes it enormously appealing, and importantly, this is Pinot Noir you can actually open and enjoy rather than admire from afar. That said, it will cellar for a decade."
Winemakers Notes "Bright and vibrant raspberries and sour cherries burst across the palate with a slight tobacco smokiness coming through towards the finish. A wine we have always dreamt of making!"
