Stuart McCloskey, tasted 27 March 2026 “The 2021 vintage in Eden Valley is widely considered exceptional, often described by local winemakers and critics as a “unicorn” or a standout of the decade. The quality of the fruit in the ’21 Corryton Park is plain to see.

The bouquet is a glorious fusion of purity and intensity: an exquisite, deeply perfumed nose that is still very much in its infancy. Intense aromas of blackberry, cassis, blackcurrant, mulberry, plum, violet, liquorice, graphite, pencil shavings, crushed rock and bay leaf unfold, alongside the faintest hint of menthol and fresh mint. The oak is perfectly integrated, adding a savoury, spicy lift. With extended airtime, a note of pen ink emerges. It’s a shame they are unable to bottle perfume this beautiful.

The palate is beautifully ripe and displays all the classic Cabernet DNA: blackcurrant, cassis, baking spice, violet and minerality. I particularly like the spice from the oak and the chew of HB pencil. You have to admire the arc of fresh, succulent flavours. We already know the exceptional quality of the vineyard and the talent of the winemaking team, and Accolade does not cut corners - no expense is spared. Accordingly, this vintage shows Corryton Park Cabernet in the brightest possible light.

It is exceedingly good value, albeit we receive preferential pricing. The finish takes its time, then slowly trails away with harmony and grace. Drink now (an hour in the decanter will suffice) but it will age gracefully for at least another decade. I reckon secondary flavours will begin to emerge over the next 5 to 8 years.”

Grant Burge

The story of Grant Burge is one of the past, the present, and the future…

We are thrilled to offer a collection of cellared treasures direct from the producer including the full ‘Icon’ suite.

Abednego

Langton’s – Australia’s famous wine auction house, “Grant Burge’s other ‘icon’ wines include the rather classical, indeed brilliant Abednego Shiraz Grenache Mourvèdre. This has almost no presence on the market which must say something for its immediate approachability.”

Meshach

It is no exaggeration to say that there are few people in the world who understand Australian wine better than Andrew Caillard MW who penned, “It is Grant Burge’s Meshach Shiraz that has played no small part in the ascendancy of the Barossa Shiraz vernacular. This wine brings utterly sublime vineyard resources, marketing imagination and accessibility to the fine wine consumer. While it is pricey, it’s also fair. It generally offers a much better bang to your buck than many over-hyped cult type Shirazes. The fruit is sourced from the 100-year-old Filsell vineyard planted on deep alluvial soils near Lyndoch. The vineyard is triaged on optimum ripeness and flavour development. This is often around 14 degrees Baume. The wine is vinified in open headed down fermenters at warm temperatures. Towards dryness, the wine is drained and pressed, completing fermentation in mostly new American oak hogsheads. Meshach is a highly concentrated and generous Barossa style with a ripe, dense palate packed with fruit, pronounced tannins and supported by American oak. Meshach is already highly regarded for its potential lo... Read morengevity and structure. Meshach has evolved as something of a secondary wine market staple. If Grange is a market indicator Meshach is something of a market backstop in the same way as Penfolds Bin 707 or Henschke Mount Edelstone. Grant Burge’s other ‘icon’ wines include the plush but erratic secondary market performing Shadrach Cabernet Sauvignon and the rather classical, indeed brilliant Abednego Shiraz Grenache Mourvèdre. The latter has almost no presence on the market which must say something for its immediate approachability.”
