99 Points – Stuart McCloskey “Compared to the ’15 – the bouquet is dialled-up a notch or two. Deeply concentrated and unfurls to warming spices, cinnamon, black cherry and black raspberry compote (fresh, yet with liqueur-esque concentration). Aromas of meat / game are beginning to emerge and will build over the coming decade – freshness comes by way of blood orange effervescence. On the palate, this is Pinot Noir at the pinnacle of concentration - another step or two, would take it over the edge. Wonderfully concentrated, but the wines vivacity is the masterstroke. The effervescent freshness derived by blood orange and dried orange zest is a delight and balances the viscosity perfectly. Texturally, this is seduction personified – this slips and slides like silk sheets. Lots of sex appeal if I dare say. For Pinot Noir, this is full-bodied, ripe, opulent, multidimensional, immensely deep and satisfies the soul. Heady, exotic – yet it retains a regal splendour. There’s an indescribable sense of completeness – nothing appears forced. Simply, great fruit picked at their moment of perfection and left to work with nature for 36-months. This provides another singular wine experience and comes highly recommended. This is very special today however, this will be dazzling with a further 10-years of bottle age. Unfortunately, there are a mere 24 bottles available, which is going to prove the hurdle for keeping a few back! Decant for 2-3 hours. Served using Zalto Burgundy glassware.”
